The Kenific Group, Inc. (KGI) is a private, small business based in the Washington, DC area. KGI was founded in 2011, initially providing acquisition and supply chain management services to the U.S. Coast Guard. KGI has used this experience to expand our service offerings to other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). In the past 10 years we have grown our service offerings to include infrastructure resiliency, contact center operations, information technology, software engineering, program management, strategic communications, engineering, and cybersecurity. Position Overview:

The Kenific Group is seeking a candidate with knowledge and experience in naval architecture/marine engineering with an emphasis in mechanical operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Will work directly with the U.S. Coast Guard Ship Design Team developing system specifications for design and improvements to auxiliary systems and components.
  • Will perform design reviews, evaluate constructability, help resolve technical issues, and manage information generated through the design and construction phases of multiple and concurrent projects.
  • Will also design and prepare engineering reports and related documentation and devise charts and graphs to record results.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (preference for Engineering Degree) and three to 10 years of experience.
  • Associates degree plus four years work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, excellent organizational skills, the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external customers and the ability to work independently and take a proactive role.
  • Candidates must be citizens or legal residents of the U.S. and shall be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Project, Ship Constructor and AutoCAD.
  • U.S. citizenship required - must be able to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Relevant experience with marine engineering, specializing in auxiliary systems
  • One year demonstrated experience with shipbuilding acquisitions
  • One year demonstrated experience supporting a major system acquisition program (DHS/USCG Level I, DoD ACAT I or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Coast Guard
