The Kenific Group, Inc. (KGI) is a private, small business based in the Washington, DC area. KGI was founded in 2011, initially providing acquisition and supply chain management services to the U.S. Coast Guard. Position Overview:

KGI is seeking a person qualified to do cost estimation for construction of major shipbuilding projects. The right candidate will have six to 10 years of experience in cost estimating of design and construction activities that are required during major shipbuilding acquisitions, including market research, cost accounting, and labor.


  • Bachelor's degree (Preferred).
  • Six years of work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Associate's degree plus four years of work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • U.S. citizenship required - must be able to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance.
  • One year demonstrated experience with shipbuilding acquisitions.
  • One year demonstrated experience supporting a major system acquisition program (DHS/USCG Level I, DoD ACAT I or equivalent).
  • Documented six to 10 years of experience in the cost estimation field including three or more of the following:
    • Developing cost estimates with bid level detail for new construction, shipbuilding projects.
    • Reviewing and verifying acquisition and construction cost estimates for major shipbuilding projects.
    • Reviewing, verifying, and identifying cost negotiation items within cost summaries provided by the builder.
    • Providing consultation and review services for costs and technical review to design teams to ensure projects are designed within budget.
    • Developing, preparing, and analyzing detailed construction schedules for new, repair and alterations level design and construction projects, including major multiyear projects for new Federal shipbuilding construction involving estimates of hundreds of millions of dollars.
